Web Desk: Britain’s King Charles III met members of the Pakistan cricket team and officials at Clarence House, the historic royal residence, during a visit that brought cricket and broader bilateral interests into focus.
The king held an informal conversation with the players and team officials, encouraging the national side and discussing their sporting journey.
Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman and Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi also attended the meeting.
During the meeting, King Charles spoke with Naqvi about efforts to promote cricket in Pakistan. The discussion also covered Pakistan’s measures to combat terrorism and maintain law and order.
Naqvi later described the meeting as highly productive, saying the British monarch encouraged the Pakistani players and showed appreciation for Pakistan’s efforts to promote peace and stability in the region.
The discussions also touched on a range of other matters, with cricket remaining a key focus of the interaction.
The British high commissioner also spoke with King Charles during the meeting and highlighted Pakistan’s efforts to contribute to regional peace.
The envoy also acknowledged Naqvi’s role in addressing security and other issues in Pakistan.
Following the royal engagement, Naqvi said the meeting provided an opportunity for constructive discussions on cricket, security and regional peace.
He subsequently concluded his visit to Britain and departed for Pakistan.
