The 11-member influential council established following the imposition of an emergency and governor’s rule in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa under Articles 232 and 234 of the Constitution has formally launched comprehensive, high-level measures to immediately restore suspended administrative functions and stalled development projects across the province.
According to the federal information minister, the advisory council, formed to assist Governor Faisal Karim Kundi, has become fully operational to improve the performance of all government departments, restore service delivery, and ensure strict accountability of the provincial bureaucracy.
According to administrative sources, the 11-member council has issued emergency directives to address administrative stagnation and public deprivation that emerged during Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s (PTI) 13 years in power in the province.
Approval has been granted for the immediate release of funds for the restoration of stalled infrastructure, local government facilities, and suspended development projects. The objective is to restore law and order across the province while providing relief to the public at their doorstep.
The latest example of the new administration’s timely and decisive progress emerged during the recent Dir Colony school tragedy, where children were pulled from the rubble within just one hour of the incident, saving dozens of innocent lives.
The coordinated rescue operation by Pakistan Army personnel and the local administration has received widespread public appreciation. On this occasion, Adviser on Health Lieutenant General (retd.) Nigar Johar personally visited the hospital to inquire after all the injured children, oversee the uninterrupted provision of medicines and medical facilities, and issue directives for restructuring provincial hospitals and emergency wards.
To prevent similar incidents in the future, the 11-member council has decided to conduct immediate structural and safety audits of all public and private school buildings across the province.
In addition, a ‘Governor’s Helpline’ and monitoring cells are being established to ensure the provision of clean drinking water, the prompt repair of roads, and the timely resolution of public complaints.
The federal government and the governor’s administration say these emergency measures are essential to steer the province out of prolonged political instability and put it back on the path to development.
