⏱ 2 minute read

Web Desk: The Professional Squash Association (PSA) has formed a committee to investigate an Egyptian player for inappropriate behaviour towards a referee during the Karachi International Squash Tournament.

The incident involved World No. 15 Fares Dessouki, who reportedly displayed unsportsmanlike conduct and refused to accept the referee’s decision during a match. Pakistani referee Sajjad Khan filed an official report with the PSA regarding the incident.

The incident occurred in the second round of the tournament at the DHA Creek Club, during Dessouki’s match against World Under-23 Champion and World No. 38, Nour Zaman. According to witnesses, the Egyptian player reacted angrily to the referee’s calls, repeatedly questioned the referee about his nationality, and continued to argue after several warnings.

Despite being instructed to return to the court, Dessouki left the playing area and continued a heated exchange with the referee, shouting and showing visible signs of extreme frustration.

Sources indicate that the PSA-established committee will complete a thorough investigation and submit its recommendations. If the allegations are confirmed, Dessouki could face fines and potential bans from participating in several international matches.

This incident has sent shockwaves through the squash community, raising questions about sportsmanship and conduct at high-profile tournaments.
