99-Year-Old Woman Becomes World’s Oldest Wing Walker

While most people over the age of 70 or 80 avoid dangerous stunts, 99-year-old Helga Duffy from Britain has claimed the world record as the oldest wing walker by standing on the wings of an aircraft in flight.

Duffy performed the feat while standing on top of a small aircraft at RFC Rendcomb Airfield in Cirencester, Gloucestershire. Wing walking is a dangerous stunt in which a person stands on the wings of an aircraft while it is flying.

Duffy got the idea for the unusual achievement in August 2026 after seeing 97-year-old Betty Bromage, who broke her own Guinness World Record by performing a wing-walking stunt after recovering from a stroke.

Duffy, who lives in a care home, described the wing-walking experience as strange. After standing on top of the aircraft, she said she was frightened because she was extremely excited.

Guinness World Records also presented Duffy with a certificate confirming her achievement. Her nieces, Jackie Rose and Julie Perez, witnessed the memorable flight and described her as an independent and courageous woman.

Meanwhile, 97-year-old Bromage congratulated Duffy on setting the world record but jokingly said she would break it herself when she turns 100.
