Web desk: US Secretary of State Marco Rubio congratulated Pakistan on its 78th Independence Day.

He also highlighted America’s deepening ties with Pakistan on the occasion of the nation’s Independence Day on August 14.

An official statement was released on the official website of the United States Government.

“On behalf of the United States, I extend our warm congratulations to the people of Pakistan as they celebrate their Independence Day on August 14,” the statement read.

The statement further read that the United States greatly values Pakistan’s cooperation in counterterrorism and trade.

According to it, the US aims to explore fresh opportunities for economic collaboration. Particularly in critical minerals and hydrocarbons, while building strong business partnerships that can help secure a prosperous future for both Americans and Pakistanis.

It stated, “We look forward to exploring new areas of economic cooperation, including critical minerals and hydrocarbons. And fostering dynamic business partnerships which will promote a prosperous future for Americans and Pakistanis.”

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio said that Washington wants to work with Pakistan on critical minerals and hydrocarbons.

His comments follow a trade deal agreed last month, which Pakistan said will help cut tariffs and bring more investment.

Commerce Minister Jam Kamal said Pakistan will invite US companies to invest in mining projects in Balochistan through joint ventures with local firms, offering benefits such as lease grants.

Rubio’s message comes at a time when tensions between the United States and India are high, while Washington continues to support Pakistan.

In the Trump administration’s recent tariff changes, Pakistan got the lowest rate in South Asia at 19 per cent. While India was hit with an extra 25 per cent tax. This raised India’s tariffs to 50 per cent, the highest level, because of its purchases of Russian oil.
