On the third day of the Edgbaston Test, former Pakistan cricket team captain Shan Masood was unlucky when, after the lunch break, he returned to the pavilion in the second innings after being dismissed by Atkinson, with Dan Lawrence taking a brilliant catch at slip.
The left-handed batter could not complete his eighth century in Test cricket. Shan Masood scored 95 runs off 148 balls, with 12 fours.
During this innings, the former captain of the national Test team overtook former Test opener and member of the 1992 World Cup-winning team Ramiz Hasan Raja and legendary fast bowler and former Test captain Wasim Akram in terms of runs scored in Test cricket.
Ramiz Raja scored 2,833 runs in 94 innings of 57 Tests for Pakistan from 1984 to 1997 at an average of 31.83, with two centuries and 22 half-centuries.
Younis Khan holds the record for the most runs for Pakistan in Test cricket, having scored 10,099 runs. Shan Masood has now moved to 23rd place among Pakistani batters with the most Test runs.
Shan Masood has scored 2,926 runs in 96 innings of 50 Tests at an average of 30.80, with seven centuries and 15 half-centuries.
The Edgbaston Test in Birmingham is the 50th Test of Shan Masood’s career. He is the 33rd Pakistani player to complete 50 Test matches in Test cricket.
Javed Miandad is the legendary player who has played the most Test matches for Pakistan, having played a record 124 Tests for Pakistan from 1976 to 1993.
So far, five Pakistani players have completed a century of Test matches.
