The provincial government’s strategy regarding good governance, police reforms and the merger of the Levies Force into the police was reviewed in detail.

The Balochistan Planning and Development Department gave the meeting a detailed briefing on the province’s socio-economic strategy.
Officials made it clear that the provincial government is strongly focused on improving good governance and service delivery. The briefing also provided information about measures taken for the effective and transparent use of funds so that the benefits of development projects can reach people at the grassroots level.
Minerals, Key to Economic Prosperity
The briefing by the Minerals and Resources Department highlighted the vast reserves of minerals and mining potential in Balochistan.

In view of the sensitivity of the province, the briefing by the Home and Tribal Affairs Department was given great importance. The meeting was briefed on the implementation of the ‘Provincial Action Plan’ for maintaining peace.
On the occasion, a detailed discussion was held on police reforms, with the most important point being the formal merger of the ‘Levies Force’ into the police. The meeting was also briefed on the completion of the ‘Safe City’ project, new legislation and the establishment of effective coordination among all law enforcement agencies.
Chief Minister’s Question-and-Answer Session
At the conclusion of all these departmental briefings, a detailed session was held in which the Balochistan Chief Minister answered questions from the participants.
The Chief Minister presented the government’s clear and firm position on various sectors of the province, particularly matters related to security and the economy.
Balochistan is Pakistan’s largest province by area but is also the most sensitive province in terms of development and security challenges.
For decades, the biggest issue here has been the economic deprivation of the people despite the presence of mineral resources. On the other hand, maintaining law and order under the dual system — police in A Areas and Levies in B Areas — has always been an administrative complexity.
The current briefings indicate that the government is attempting to address these longstanding and complex issues under a comprehensive strategy.
