Web Desk: A social media account has circulated a false claim of a major explosion in Kabal Chowk in Swat, alleging heavy casualties among Pakistani police forces, according to a security-related statement.
The claim, circulated in Pashto on X, alleged that a deadly attack had taken place in the Swat district. The statement described the report as fabricated and urged the public not to believe or amplify the information.
According to the statement, ground verification found no evidence of an explosion, blast or other kinetic attack at Kabal Chowk or elsewhere in Swat.
It said the district remained peaceful and under the control of local authorities and law enforcement agencies, with police and security personnel continuing routine duties.
The statement rejected the reported casualties and said there was no physical evidence to support claims of a terrorist attack targeting police.
The statement accused hostile digital networks of fabricating security incidents in Pakistan and portraying non-existent attacks as real events.
It said such reports could create public fear, disrupt civilian activity and undermine confidence in security institutions.
Furthermore, the statement described the circulation of fabricated bombing reports as a form of psychological warfare aimed at creating a false impression of deteriorating security conditions.
Authorities and security officials have repeatedly urged the public to verify reports of security incidents through credible sources before sharing them on social media.
