Well-wishers have also offered prayers for the child’s wellbeing and a long, healthy life.
Sanjrani, 48, served as chairman of Pakistan’s Senate from March 2018 to March 2024, becoming the first politician from Balochistan to lead the upper house of parliament.
He was 39 when he assumed the position, making him the youngest person to serve as Senate chairman in the country’s history.
His six-year tenure placed him among the prominent figures in Pakistan’s parliamentary politics and marked a significant milestone for representation from Balochistan.
Sanjrani hails from Nokundi, an area in Balochistan’s Noshki district. Before becoming Senate chairman, he held several administrative and political responsibilities.
He worked as a coordinator in the team of former prime minister Nawaz Sharif during 1998 and 1999. Later, during the Pakistan Peoples Party-led government from 2008 to 2013, he served in a key role at the Prime Minister’s Secretariat.
His political career subsequently culminated in his election as Senate chairman, a position he held for two consecutive three-year terms.
