Punjab Information Minister Uzma Bukhari, in a statement posted on social media platform X, rejected criticism regarding the expenses of Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s London visit, saying that the chief minister had clearly instructed before departing for London that she would bear all expenses of the visit herself.

The Punjab information minister said that, as information minister, she had already responsibly made it clear that Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif would personally pay all expenses of her London visit.

She said that criticism and propaganda regarding the chief minister’s London visit had been ongoing for the past few days, while the issue was being made a topic even before her return to the country from London, without knowing the facts.

According to the Punjab information minister, the expenses would be estimated after the visit was completed and payment would then be made. She said that everything in the government system is carried out according to legal rules and procedures; expenses are estimated and payment is made through a challan.

She said that this is not Easypaisa or JazzCash where the button can be pressed and the account can be presented before the journey has even ended.

The Punjab information minister said that the visit had not even been completed yet, but propaganda had already started.

Addressing the critics, she said that those who themselves used to squander billions of rupees of the nation on luxuries were now putting on a cheap act of portraying themselves as clean.

She said that those whose own hands are stained with corruption should be ashamed of making allegations against others.

At the conclusion of her statement, the Punjab information minister said that those criticizing should once again be prepared to face embarrassment and humiliation, adding, “Just wait a little longer.”
