Web desk: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while addressing the Pakistan-China B2B Investment Conference, said that China has invested $35 billion in Pakistan under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC).
He emphasised that China has always stood by Pakistan in difficult times and highlighted that CPEC played a key role in helping the country overcome its energy crisis within just three years.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, while addressing an investment conference in Beijing, said that China is Pakistan’s true friend.
He added that the friendship between China and Pakistan is “higher than the Himalayas, deeper than the ocean, and stronger than steel.”
Shehbaz Sharif said the launch of CPEC Phase 2.0 marks a new chapter, building on the foundation laid when President Xi Jinping visited Islamabad in 2015.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that Pakistan needs China’s cooperation, expertise, and technology to strengthen its economy, adding that Beijing’s support will soon help put the country on a stronger economic path.
Under CPEC, China has already invested $35 billion in Pakistan, leading to projects such as the Orange Line train and the construction of several dams. The initiative, he added, has revitalised Pakistan’s agriculture and industry.
Highlighting future plans, the Prime Minister said Pakistan seeks to benefit from China’s experiences in multiple sectors, including IT, artificial intelligence, and mining. He underlined that Special Economic Zones (SEZs) offer attractive opportunities for Chinese investors.
