Punjab launches Green Property Certificate initiative: here's how to apply

WEBDESK: The Punjab government has launched the “Green Property Certificate” initiative in Sialkot, with plans to extend it across the province in phases.

The project, managed by the Punjab Land Records Authority (PLRA), aims to improve transparency, reliability, and easy access to land records. Under the new system, property ownership details can be verified through secure and modern methods.

How to Get the Certificate

Citizens can apply for the Green Property Certificate at their nearest Arazi Centre. The process involves an ownership verification and a property survey. Once completed, the certificate will be issued to the property owner.

The government has announced that the survey will be carried out free of cost for one month to facilitate citizens.

Benefits of the Green Property Certificate

According to PLRA, the new system will help eliminate forgery and disputes over land ownership while ensuring secure and authentic documentation. The certificates will be digitally verified and include electronic signatures, preventing unauthorised alterations.

Officials added that the initiative will also make property records more accessible for overseas Pakistanis, simplify verification for banks and financial institutions, and provide greater protection against fraud.
