Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab has apologised to the parents of the victim’s child in the NIPA Tragedy. Murtaza Wahab said during the press conference in Karachi, “I apologise, it is my mistake, I could not succeed as mayor of Karachi, I am expressing my regret here in front of the entire nation and have also apologised to the child’s family.”
Chief Secretary Sindh Asif Hyder Shah has suspended Deputy Commissioner East Ibrar Ahmed Jafrey, and Inspector General (IG) Sindh has removed Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) East, Dr Farukh Raza, from their positions after the death of a child who fell into an open mainhole in NIPA area Karachi, the private media channel reported on Thursday.
The Chief Secretary of Sindh has released a notification confirming the removal of Deputy Commissioner East Ibrar Ahmed Jafrey. At the same time, the suspended DC has been instructed to report relevant department.
On the other hand, Inspector General (IG) Sindh also issued a removal notification of Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) East in this regard.
Earlier, Chief Minister (CM) Sindh Murad Ali Shah also suspended high-ranking officers of the city in relevant departments after the NIPA incident happened.
The suspended officers belong to the Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC), the Town Municipal Corporation (TMC), Gulshan-e-Iqbal, the Water and Sewerage Corporation, the office of the Assistant Commissioner Gulshan-e-Iqbal, and other departments.
