Web Desk: Security forces killed 15 terrorists during an attempt to cross into Pakistan from Afghanistan in North Waziristan on Wednesday, according to security sources.

The operation took place in the Ghulam Khan area, a strategically important border region that has previously been used by terrorists attempting to enter Pakistan, the sources said.

Security forces launched the operation after receiving intelligence about an armed group allegedly trying to infiltrate Pakistan from across the Afghan border, according to the sources.

They said the entire group, comprising 15 terrorists, was targeted and killed during the operation.

Following the operation, security personnel continued a clearance operation in the area to search for any remaining terrorists or threats, the sources said.

Ghulam Khan is located along Pakistan’s border with Afghanistan in North Waziristan and has strategic importance because of its proximity to established cross-border routes.

Security forces have previously carried out operations in the wider region against terrorists groups accused of attempting to cross the border and carry out attacks inside Pakistan.

Wednesday’s operation comes amid continued security concerns along Pakistan’s western border, where Islamabad has repeatedly raised concerns about terrorist activity originating from Afghan territory.

Authorities have not yet released an official statement providing further details about the operation or confirming the reported death toll.

Meanwhile, security personnel are continuing clearance efforts in the area, according to the security sources.

The operation highlights the continuing security challenge along Pakistan’s northwestern border, particularly in areas where authorities say terrorists have attempted to exploit difficult terrain and established crossing routes to enter the country.
