Private Schools Under Smog Regulations Scrutiny

Separately, several private schools in Punjab have come under scrutiny for violating government orders restricting outdoor activities due to rising smog levels. Despite a province-wide ban, some institutions reportedly continued arranging student outings to venues such as Joyland, Jallo Park, Safari Park, and Lahore Zoo.

PEF’s Mission and Public-Private Model

Established under the PEF Act of 1991, the foundation operates as an autonomous body promoting non-commercial, non-profit education across Punjab. In 2004, PEF was restructured under the Punjab Education Foundation Act-XII to encourage private sector participation in providing quality education to underprivileged students through a public–private partnership model.
