Pakistan destined to claim its place on global stage: Field Marshal

RAWALPINDI: Field Marshal and Chief of Army Staff (COAS) Syed Asim Munir on Wednesday underscored that Pakistan is a country of consequence, destined to claim its rightful place within the global community.

He emphasized that national unity remains the country’s greatest strength and asserted that, together, Pakistan can overcome the hostile designs of its adversaries.

The remarks were made during an address to participants of the National Security Workshop–27 (NSW–27), who visited the General Headquarters (GHQ) in Rawalpindi. The delegation received detailed briefings on Pakistan’s regional and internal security landscape, as well as the current national security environment.

During the visit, participants held an interactive session with Field Marshal Munir, who highlighted the evolving regional dynamics influenced by intensified geopolitical competition, cross-border terrorism, and hybrid threats.

Despite these challenges, he noted, Pakistan’s Armed Forces, intelligence agencies, and law-enforcement institutions continue to display unwavering professionalism and determination in safeguarding the country.

Field Marshal Munir further stated that the Armed Forces’ performance during Marka-e-Haq has strengthened Pakistan’s international standing. The delegation was also briefed on national efforts to counter illegal activities such as smuggling, narcotics trafficking, and organized crime, which pose significant security risks.

They received updates on enhanced border management measures and ongoing efforts to repatriate illegal foreigners, aimed at protecting internal security and national interests. The COAS reaffirmed that the country’s territorial integrity, security, and protection of every citizen remain non-negotiable.

In his concluding remarks, he reiterated the Army’s commitment to supporting federal and provincial governments, emphasizing that coordinated national action and institutional harmony are crucial for sustainable peace, stability, and prosperity.

NSW–27, a flagship program of the National Defence University (NDU), brings together parliamentarians, senior civil and military officials, as well as members of academia and civil society.
