Famous wrestler Andy “The Butcher” Williams has passed away at the age of 48. The former AEW star suddenly collapsed in the ring during a tag team match in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, on Saturday night.

According to the news agency, he was competing alongside his partner The Blade against TME at an Enjoy Wrestling event when his condition suddenly deteriorated at the conclusion of the match.

Medical staff present in the ring immediately provided medical assistance and began CPR. Efforts to revive the wrestler continued until emergency medical teams arrived, after which he was rushed to hospital.

US media outlet Team Z, citing the County Medical Office, reported that Andy Williams died at the hospital on Sunday morning.

The incident led to the sudden cancellation of the Enjoy Wrestling event. In a statement posted on social media platform X, formerly Twitter, the company said Andy collapsed at the end of the match, following which doctors at the venue immediately began CPR and continued providing medical assistance until the ambulance arrived.

The company further stated that fans were sent home while management awaited further updates from the hospital. The wrestling company later thanked fans who expressed concern and sent messages of support.

The cause of Andy “The Butcher” Williams’ death has not yet been revealed, and his autopsy has also not been conducted.
