Two JUIF workers visit Azaad Digital office, threatening staff

Web Desk: Two men claiming affiliation with Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) visited the Islamabad office of Aazad Digital on November 6 and repeatedly asked security staff about the whereabouts of its chief executive, Musawir Abbasi, prompting the media organisation to raise concerns over a possible intimidation attempt.

The two unidentified men visited the office twice on Friday morning, first at 10:11am and again at 10:41am.

The visitors reportedly questioned the security guard about Musawir Abbasi’s presence. However, after learning that the CEO was not in the office, they said they would return and left the premises.

The ‘ behaviour and appearance were suspicious, adding that both men identified themselves as affiliated with JUI-F.

The visits could be an attempt to intimidate its management and put pressure on the media platform.

Aazad Digital has informed law enforcement agencies about the incident and raised concerns over the safety of its staff and management.

The incident has raised fresh concerns about the safety of media organisations and journalists amid allegations of pressure and intimidation linked to political affiliations.
