The Indian Premier League (IPL) has once again come under the spotlight due to allegations of corruption.
An undercover camera investigation by the special investigation team of Indian investigative organization Tehelka has claimed that information regarding teams’ playing XIs was allegedly passed on to bookmakers based in London during IPL 2025.
The report named former first-class cricketer Rachit Bhatia, who allegedly admitted to receiving Rs6 million per match in exchange for providing information about the Chennai Super Kings team.
The former cricketer informed reporters last December about match-fixing activities and his alleged role in them.
According to Tehelka, this information was allegedly sent to bookmakers in London via Snapchat, generating approximately Rs30 million from five matches.
The report claimed that the player providing the information was a young wicketkeeper-batter, who was later identified as Vansh Bedi by cricket journalist Prateesh Halder on X.
Bedi was purchased by Chennai Super Kings for Rs5.5 million in the IPL 2025 auction.
Tehelka’s report also claimed that Bhatia was involved in alleged spot-fixing during the 2018–19 Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.
The cricketer admitted to deliberately bowling two wides in exchange for money from bookmakers. He allegedly received Rs800,000 for each wide delivery and also paid a bribe to secure a place in a team in the Ranji Trophy.
Later, allegations also emerged that the alleged activities had expanded to the Delhi Premier League, where a payment of Rs4 million per match was reportedly offered in exchange for playing XI information.
