Indian cricketer Rinku Singh has abruptly left the team camp and returned home due to a family emergency.

According to Indian media reports, the batter departed during the T20 World Cup after receiving news about his father’s critical condition. His father, Khan Chand Singh, has been shifted to a local hospital in Greater Noida and is currently on a ventilator.

Rinku had arrived in Chennai on February 23 following the Super Eight fixture but left early Tuesday morning to be with his father.

He is unlikely to feature in India’s upcoming match against Zimbabwe on February 26 and was not available for practice on Monday evening.

His departure comes at a crucial time for India, especially after their defeat to South Africa in the opening Super Eight match.
If Rinku is unavailable, India may consider including Axar Patel in the playing XI as a replacement.

Meanwhile, Zimbabwe — led by Sikandar Raza — lost their first Super Eight match against the West Indies and will look to improve their record in the upcoming fixture.
