PTI stages sit-in outside Parliament House, security tightened

PTI sit in protest


Islamabad — Following the announcement of a protest and sit-in by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf outside the Parliament House, security has been beefed up on Constitution Avenue. Police and Rangers have been deployed in large numbers around the Parliament premises.

The main gate of Parliament House has been closed, while the gate controlled by the Establishment Division has been opened to allow lawmakers to return.


Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Suhail Afridi, is also expected to participate in the protest.

Senate Opposition Leader Allama Raja Nasir Abbas stated that the protest would not block anyone’s way and lawmakers will join in. He added that the protest would end immediately if the government meets the demands.

This sit-in is made owing to the ailing health of PTI founder chairman’s health.The party leadreship and the supporters are expresssing their concerns over the the health condition of Imran khan and their perceived unsatisfactory medical care.

The protes is posing issues to the common public as the normal routine flow on main roads has been halted.

Sit in to last untill demands heard: opposition leader

Mahmood Khan Achakzai strongly criticized the government’s security measures, questioning, “What kind of demand is this that civil martial law has been imposed?” He claimed that all roads had been blocked, calling the situation excessive and unjustified.


Speaking to the media, Achakzai said “once independent doctors examine the PTI founder, the nature of the illness will become clear”. Responding to reports about possible medical treatment abroad for Imran Khan, he remarked, “Pakistan is not a country where even eye treatment cannot be provided.”


He further stated that protest leaders would sit together to finalize a list of demands. He made it clear that the sit-in would continue until those demands were accepted.


Meanwhile, journalists pointed out that discussions were also ongoing regarding the possibility of allowing the PTI founder to travel abroad on medical grounds.
