Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) rejected Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s offer for conditional talks on Thursday, the private media channel reported.

In a statement, PTI spokesman Sheikh Waqas Akram said the party would not negotiate with the current government, calling the Prime Minister’s offer “a proof of duplicity and hypocrisy.” He alleged that the government had stolen the mandate.

Sheikh Waqas Akram added that PTI founder has authorized Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Raja Nasir Abbas to handle negotiations. He suggested that if the government is serious, it should engage with the leadership of the Movement to Protect the Constitution of Pakistan instead.

PTI spokesman Sheikh Waqas Akram criticised the government, saying its demand for an apology reflects political panic and intellectual weakness.

He alleged that PTI founding chairman Imran Khan is being held in solitary confinement under inhumane conditions, and officials are preventing court-ordered meetings with him.

Sheikh Waqas Akram also claimed that Form 47 ministers are committing contempt of court, the judiciary is failing to enforce its orders, and false cases against PTI leaders are being filed at a rapid pace.

He added that ministers “afraid of Imran Khan’s popularity” cannot suppress public support through coercion, imprisonment, or threats.
