Government Must Use Digital Platforms More Effectively: Hamza Shahbaz

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Vice President and former Punjab chief minister Hamza Shahbaz Sharif visited the Digital Communication Department (DCD) of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting.

Federal Information Minister Attaullah Tarar, Information Secretary Ashfaq Ahmed Khan and senior ministry officials received Hamza Shahbaz during his visit.

During the visit, Tarar briefed Hamza Shahbaz on the department’s different sections, responsibilities and ongoing work.

Hamza Shahbaz took a keen interest in the department’s digital communication activities. He also appreciated the ministry’s efforts to expand its digital outreach.

Speaking on the occasion, Hamza Shahbaz said digital media had become an important tool for providing timely information to the public.

He said effective use of digital platforms could help present Pakistan’s positive image and national narrative to audiences around the world.

Hamza Shahbaz also praised the ministry for adopting modern technology in its digital communication efforts.

He said government institutions needed to make better use of digital platforms to communicate their work and policies effectively.

The visit also included discussions on social media, digital technology and other platforms for public communication.

Officials briefed Hamza Shahbaz about efforts to expand digital access to content through PTV Digital.

Tarar said digital media had become an effective means of communication and information sharing in the modern era.

He said countering negative propaganda and fabricated reports about Pakistan was among the key responsibilities of the Digital Communication Department.

Tarar added that highlighting the government’s initiatives and national narrative through modern digital platforms was an important need.

Federal Minister Rana Mubashir Iqbal, Minister of State Abdul Rehman Kanju, Prime Minister’s Media Coordinator Badr Shahbaz Warraich and Special Assistant Talha Barki also attended the meeting.
