Web Desk: A government girls’ primary school in Khyber district is facing severe infrastructure problems and a shortage of teaching staff, leaving hundreds of students without access to a proper learning environment, local residents said.

The only government school for girls in Malik Imroz Kalay, located in the remote Shin Pokh area of Landi Kotal in Khyber district, lacks basic facilities including electricity, clean water and adequate classrooms.

Residents said the school has only one female teacher assigned to educate hundreds of students, creating significant challenges for both teaching and learning.

The shortage has affected the quality of education, with community members warning that students are struggling to receive the attention and support needed for their academic development.

Meanwhile, the deteriorating condition of the school building has added to concerns over the safety and comfort of students.

Local elders and residents have urged Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi, the provincial education department and district administration to address the situation.

They have called for the school to be upgraded to middle-school status, saying that extending educational facilities would help girls continue their studies without having to travel long distances.

In addition, residents have demanded urgent repairs to the school building, restoration of essential services and the construction of additional classrooms.

The community has also requested the appointment of more teachers to ensure students receive better educational opportunities.

Residents said improving staffing levels and providing basic amenities would create a more effective learning environment and encourage more families to send their daughters to school.
