Web Desk: Allegations have surfaced claiming that Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman was offered a substantial financial incentive to support Pakistan’s 26th Constitutional Amendment, though no independent evidence has been presented to substantiate the claim.

The allegations, circulating through purported sources, accuse property tycoon Malik Riaz of providing Rehman with billions of rupees in connection with his position on the constitutional legislation.

According to the allegations, Rehman initially opposed the 26th Amendment but later agreed to support it following an alleged financial arrangement.

The claim alleges that Malik Riaz provided Rehman with 5 billion rupees in Dubai. It further alleges that the money was subsequently used to acquire property in Islamabad and land near Lahore for a large religious seminary.

The allegations also claim that additional properties were provided to Rehman in Dera Ismail Khan.

No documentary evidence, transaction records or independently verifiable property records have been provided to support the allegations.

The allegations involve serious claims of financial wrongdoing and political influence but remain unsubstantiated.

Neither the alleged financial transaction nor the purported property transfers have been independently confirmed. The claims should therefore not be treated as established facts unless supported by credible documentary evidence or verified by relevant authorities.

The allegations also do not by themselves establish that Rehman’s position on the 26th Amendment was linked to any financial arrangement.

Pakistan’s parliament passed the 26th Constitutional Amendment in October 2024 following extensive political debate over proposed changes to the judicial system and the appointment of judges.

Rehman and his party played a significant role in negotiations surrounding the legislation, making his position a subject of considerable political attention.

Any evidence concerning alleged payments or property transfers would need to be independently examined through financial records, property documentation and statements from the individuals named in the allegations.
