Web Desk: The first official trailer for Supergirl was released by DC Studios on December 11, 2025. The trailer introduced Milly Alcock as Kara Zor-El, Superman’s cousin. The trailer also teased Jason Momoa who previously played Aquaman as the anti-hero Lobo.

After a private Manhattan preview which was hosted by DC co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran, Milly Alcock and Director Craig Gillespie, the trailer premiered online.

The trailer opens with Supergirl in a dark room blowing out a birthday candle. The scene reflects her inner turmoil while Blondie’s “Call Me” is playing in the background. The film has been described by the director as an “anti-hero story”. The director also highlighted Kara’s demons and baggage which is quite opposite from Superman’s optimism.

The trailer made James Gunn’s fans nostalgic. As the trailer shows humanoid aliens, intergalactic colonies, which are echoing the aesthetic of Gunn’s Guardian of the Galaxy films.

Fans were also very excited that they got their first look at Jason Momoa’s Lobo. Lobo is a motor-cycle riding, cigar-smoking mercenary, who will be playing a key role. The super-powered dog Krypto will also be making a return after Gunn’s Superman film.

Milly Alcock after seeing the completed trailer defined the experience as surreal.

The script of the movie is written by Ana Nogueria, while it is being directed by Gillespie. The movie is based on the Tom King’s comic series Supergirl: Woman of tomorrow.
