Saudi sports journalist claims Ronaldo will have no role in resolving the club’s technical issues during the winter transfer window
Cristiano Ronaldo’s future at Al-Nassr has once again come under question after the Saudi club suffered a 4-0 defeat against Al Ain in their opening match of the AFC Champions League Elite, leaving Al-Nassr at the bottom of the Western Region league table after the first round.
In the match played on September 15, Ronaldo made five attempts on goal, but only one shot was on target, which was saved by Al Ain goalkeeper Khalid Eisa. Al Ain’s Hussein Rahimi scored twice, while Soufiane Rahimi and Georgios Giakoumakis scored one goal each to secure a 4-0 victory for the team.
The defeat has been described as the heaviest of Ronaldo’s career. Al-Nassr have managed just one win in their last four matches, raising questions over the team’s current form.
According to foreign media reports, amid this situation, former Al-Nassr spokesperson and Saudi sports journalist Saud Al-Sarami has claimed that Ronaldo could leave the club during the January transfer window.
Speaking to Al Arabiya FM, Al-Sarami described Ronaldo as a tired asset for Al-Nassr and said that Ronaldo would have no role in resolving the club’s technical issues during the winter transfer window.
Al-Sarami also compared Ronaldo’s possible departure with Karim Benzema’s exit from the club. However, according to him, the final decision will be made by Ronaldo himself.
In an interview with Vogue last month, Ronaldo also hinted that the 2026-27 season could be the final season of his football career. He said that he wants to end his career with a remarkable legacy.
