The Punjab government has approved significant changes to the procedure and fee structure for obtaining domicile certificates, aiming to simplify the process and improve public access.The decision was taken during a cabinet meeting held in Lahore.
According to reports, the government has formally approved making the domicile issuance process fully digital, marking a major step towards e-governance and reducing manual procedures. The move is expected to make the system more efficient and transparent.
Under the revised structure, the total fee for obtaining a domicile certificate has been set at Rs550. This includes Rs200 as the domicile fee, Rs300 for e-stamp charges, and Rs50 as service charges for Punjab Information Technology Board.
Officials stated that all payments will now be made digitally through the ePay Punjab, eliminating the need for physical transactions and long queues at government offices.
In addition, the government has introduced a home delivery service, allowing citizens to receive their domicile certificates via courier at their doorstep, further enhancing convenience and accessibility.
The Punjab government under Maryam Nawaz is actively pursuing a broader digital transformation agenda, introducing innovative e-governance initiatives across multiple sectors.
