The new management of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has issued a new organisational structure after taking control of the airline, restructuring its operations and introducing significant changes to the positions, responsibilities and reporting lines of heads of various departments.
According to sources, the new organisational structure introduces a new position of Chief Airworthiness, while the position of Chief Technical Officer has been changed to Chief of Maintenance.
Under the new structure, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PIA will be accountable to and report to the Board of Directors.
Previously, the General Manager Corporate Communication and Brand reported to the Chief Commercial Officer. However, under the new organisational structure, both will report directly to the CEO.
Similarly, the Special Assistant Technical, Special Assistant Compliance, GM Safety and GM Government Affairs will also report directly to the CEO.
According to the new structure, the GM Facilities Management, GM Passenger Handling Services, GM Food, GM Vigilance and GM Technical Ground Services will report to the Chief Operating Officer.
The Chief Pilot Crew Training, Chief Pilot Standard Inspection, Chief Pilot Technical, Chief Pilot Planning and Scheduling, GM Fuel and GM Cabin Operations will work under the Chief Flight Operations Officer.
Six general managers, including the GM Passenger Sales, will report to the Chief Commercial Officer, while five chief engineers, including the Chief Engineer Line Maintenance, will work under the Chief of Maintenance Operations.
Under the new organisational structure, two chief engineers, including the Chief Engineer Airworthiness, will work under the Chief of Airworthiness.
The GM Funds, GM Revenue Accounting and GM Budget will work under the Chief Financial Officer, while the GM Economic Planning and GM Fleet Planning will report to the Chief Corporate Officer.
The Chief Human Resource Officer will oversee the GM HR, GM OD, GM R, GM Medical, GM Admin and Principal Training Centre.
The GM IT Operations, GM Digital and GM IT Infrastructure will work under the Chief Information Officer.
Similarly, the GM Procurement, GM Supply Chain and GM Contract Management will work under the Chief Supply Chain Officer.
Under the new structure, the GM Central Control will work under the Chief Central Control, while the Chief Pilot Safety will work under the Chief Safety Officer.
Sources said that after taking over the airline, PIA’s new management reorganised administrative affairs and issued a new organisational structure, under which the reporting system between various departments has also been changed.
