Following announcements by Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Jamaat-e-Islami and the Kisan Ittehad regarding protests and marches in Islamabad, a decision has been made to keep 24 government educational institutions in the federal capital closed from September 22.
According to media reports, the 24 educational institutions will be used to accommodate police personnel arriving from other cities for security duties. As a result, academic activities at these institutions will remain suspended. However, other educational institutions across Islamabad will remain open as usual.
The institutions being closed include various schools and colleges in G-6, F-6, F-7, G-7, G-8, G-9, G-10, G-13, I-9 and I-10. Some educational institutions in Tarnol, Sangjani, Sihala, Bari Imam, Malpur, H-9 and Rawal Dam will also remain closed.
Arrangements have been made to accommodate police personnel at the schools and colleges, while principals and non-teaching staff will continue to report for duty as usual. However, students and teachers will not be required to come to the campuses.
Meanwhile, the Islamabad administration has further tightened security arrangements in view of political protests and marches. Containers and barriers are being placed along various key roads, while additional police personnel are also being deployed for security duties.
It is pertinent to note that PTI has announced a march on Islamabad for September 27, while Jamaat-e-Islami and Kisan Ittehad have also announced protest activities in the federal capital.
