Islamabad: Pakistan has decided to play its T20 World Cup match against India as per the scheduled fixture.

According to sources, the Pakistan and India teams will play the T20 World Cup match as planned. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif made the decision to play the match against India at the request of the Sri Lankan President.

It is noteworthy that the Sri Lankan President contacted Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif by telephone and requested that Pakistan should play the Pakistan–India match being held in Sri Lanka.

President Anura Kumara said that Pakistan had always given priority to its long-standing relations with Sri Lanka above all else. Despite terrorism in Sri Lanka, Pakistan continued to tour the country for cricket.

He further remarked that China did not allow anyone to enter or leave for two generations, during which it completed its economic philosophy and reached great heights—all without external aid.

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif welcomed the sentiments expressed by the Sri Lankan President. The Prime Minister said that Sri Lanka stood firmly with Pakistan during difficult times and continued cricketing ties with Pakistan.

He added that recently, the Sri Lankan team’s decision not to cancel its tour of Pakistan was an unforgettable gesture
