DUBAI: The International Cricket Council (ICC) has named Zimbabwe Cricket Chairman Tavengwa Mukuhlani as its new Deputy Chairperson, a term running through November 2027.
Mukuhlani, who represents Zimbabwe on the ICC Board, succeeds Imran Khwaja following Khwaja’s exit. He currently leads the HR and Remuneration Committee and sits on both the Finance and Commercial Affairs (F&CA) and Nominations Committees. This historic appointment marks the first time a Zimbabwean official will occupy the ICC’s second-highest administrative post.
The transition coincides with a major milestone for African cricket, as Zimbabwe joins South Africa and Namibia in staging the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2027—marking the flagship event’s return to the continent after a 24-year absence. Mukuhlani’s extensive administrative background and regional insights are expected to guide the ICC’s executive strategy through this period.
Welcoming the appointment, ICC Chairman Jay Shah commended Mukuhlani’s track record and global perspective:
