Web Desk: Pakistan has taken a step toward expanding its automotive exports after Pak Suzuki Motor Company began a regular export programme for locally manufactured Suzuki Alto and Suzuki Every vehicles destined for Brunei Darussalam.
Haroon Akhtar Khan, adviser to the prime minister on industries and production, formally inaugurated the export programme during the Pakistan Auto Show 2026 in Lahore.
The export initiative highlights the growing role of Pakistan’s automotive manufacturing sector and its ability to produce vehicles for overseas markets.
Pak Suzuki said the programme also reflects confidence from Suzuki Motor Corporation of Japan in Pakistan’s manufacturing base, technical expertise and supplier network.
More than 65% of the components used in the Suzuki Alto are manufactured locally, according to the company. The figure underscores the increasing contribution of domestic suppliers to vehicle production and supports efforts to deepen the country’s automotive supply chain.
The shipment of the Alto and Every to Brunei gives Pakistan’s auto industry an opportunity to expand its presence beyond the domestic market.
The development also comes as manufacturers and policymakers seek to strengthen Pakistan’s industrial base, increase exports and improve the international competitiveness of locally produced vehicles.
Pak Suzuki Managing Director Hiroshi Kawamura described the launch as an important moment for both the company and the country.
He said the overseas sale of the two models represented not only a business development but also recognition of the quality, reliability and competitiveness of vehicles produced in Pakistan.
The company’s export programme could provide a further avenue for Pakistani automotive suppliers to participate in international supply chains while giving manufacturers experience in meeting overseas market requirements.
