National senior, junior and under-15 championships to be held in January 2027, says president Pakistan Hockey Federation
President Pakistan Hockey Federation Mohiuddin Ahmad Wani has said that Rs280 million in prize money has been allocated for the National Hockey Championship. The National Senior, Junior and Under-15 Championships will be held in January 2027, with both boys’ and girls’ teams participating.
According to details, the Pakistan Hockey Federation has announced important measures to strengthen national hockey at the grassroots level. President Pakistan Hockey Federation Mohiuddin Ahmad Wani said Rs280 million has been allocated as prize money for the championships to encourage players. The amount will be distributed among players and teams that demonstrate outstanding performance and achieve success.
Under the new competitive system, a maximum of four teams from each province, while two teams each from Azad Jammu and Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan, will participate in the National Championship. Departmental teams will also be given the opportunity to participate in national competitions.
According to the President Pakistan Hockey Federation, wherever girls’ teams are available, they will also be provided full opportunities to compete. The objective is to expand the talent pool of hockey in the country, promote quality and competitive contests at the regional level, and provide players with a clear pathway from Under-15 to junior and then senior hockey.
He said that through more teams, more competitions, more opportunities and more prize money, Pakistan hockey will once again be built on strong foundations, from the grassroots level to the national team.
