Web desk: A grand event is planned to be held today, which is on Wednesday, at Jinnah Sports Stadium, Islamabad, to commemorate the Independence Day and the victory in Marka-e-Haq.
The main ceremony will take place tonight at 8 pm at Jinnah Stadium in Islamabad, attended by President Asif Ali Zardari, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, federal ministers, and other key figures.
Sources say President Asif Ali Zardari will attend as the chief guest, joined by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and the chiefs of the three armed forces.
A significant number of national and foreign dignitaries are also expected to be present.
Military delegations from Türkiye and Azerbaijan will also take part in the Independence Day festivities as special participants.
The ceremony will feature special cultural performances, a parade by the three armed forces, and an aerial fly-past.
As part of the Marka-e-Haq victory celebrations, the Prime Minister will also unveil the Marka-e-Haq Monument.
Will it rain on August 14?
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) has forecast more rain in various parts of the country starting today. With a chance of isolated showers on Independence Day.
According to the PMD, scattered rainfall is expected in Islamabad, Punjab, upper Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The department said that westerly winds are currently influencing the northern areas and are likely to strengthen from August 17.
Between August 14 and 17, heavy showers are expected in Islamabad, upper Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Kashmir, and Gilgit-Baltistan.
From August 17 onwards, moisture-laden winds from the Bay of Bengal are predicted to intensify. Bringing widespread heavy rainfall across the country between August 18 and 21.
The PMD has cautioned that intense rain could lead to landslides in hilly regions and urban flooding in low-lying areas.
