Web desk: A high-level Iraqi defence delegation led by Lieutenant General Staff Pilot Mohanad Ghalib Mohammed Radi Al-Asadi, Commander of the Iraqi Air Force, visited Air Headquarters Islamabad and met Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force as per a statement issued by the ISPR.
A Pakistan Air Force contingent presented a Guard of Honour to the visiting commander on arrival.
In its course, both sides talked about the areas of mutual collaboration with a specific focus on joint training, capacity building, and the development of the aviation industry.
Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu emphasised the close religious and historic relationship between Pakistan and Iraq.
He reiterated the commitment of PAF to assist the Iraqi Air Force, especially in training and capacity building.
Both commanders decided to have joint exercises and training programmes to promote interoperability and operational synergy.
The Iraqi Air Force Commander thanked PAF for the warm reception and hospitality. He praised PAF’s transformation into a modern and professional force.
The Iraqi commander expressed Iraq’s desire to restructure its training system from basic to advanced levels and sought PAF’s assistance in developing a modern training framework. He also showed interest in exchange postings for Iraqi pilots to learn from PAF’s combat-proven professionals.
The Iraqi Commander visited the National Aerospace Science & Technology Park, National ISR & Integrated Air Operations Centre, and PAF Cyber Command.
He admired PAF’s innovation, indigenous capabilities, and integration of academia, industry, and military needs. He said Iraq aspired to develop a similar ecosystem.
The visit reflected the strong resolve of Pakistan and Iraq to deepen defence ties, strengthen cooperation, and promote lasting military relations.
