RAWALPINDI: Chief of Defence Forces and Army Chief Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir has arrived in Libya for an official visit. He held meetings with the Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan Arab Armed Forces, Field Marshal Khalifa Belqasim Haftar, and Deputy Chief of the Army, Lieutenant General Saddam Khalifa Haftar.
When he arrived, the Field Marshal was accorded a Guard of Honour by a contingent of Libyan Armed Forces.
Discussions on regional security dynamics, matters of mutual interest, military-to-military cooperation and avenues for enhancing bilateral defence took place during the meeting with Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar. Both sides emphasized the importance of capacity building, collaboration in training and counter-terrorism.
Pakistan’s commitment to strengthening defence ties with Libya was reaffirmed by Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir. These defence ties will be based on shared interests.
The professionalism of the Pakistan Armed Forces was appreciated by Field Marshal Khalifa Haftar. He expressed a desire to expand defence cooperation between the two countries.
