Islamabad: The Foreign Office on Thursday rejected reports about a planned visit of Chief of Defence Forces (CDF) Field Marshal Asim Munir to the United States, saying no verified information is available so far.
During the weekly briefing, the spokesperson rejected a Reuters report that the CDF was scheduled to visit the US in January. The spokesperson reiterated that there is no confirmed plan for the CDF’s visit to the US.
On Gaza, the spokesperson said no sovereign decision has been taken to join any ceasefire force. No decision has been made to send troops. Consultations are underway in global capitals. Palestine remains a core issue for the OIC, the Muslim world, and the UN Security Council.
Pakistan had dispatched an aid convoy for the Afghan people, but Afghan authorities were not ready to receive it.
The spokesperson said the prime minister’s meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin was positive. Reports about a delay in the meeting were spread by Indian news agencies to malign Pakistan’s leadership. The agencies later deleted related posts.
India is using water as a weapon, the spokesperson said, calling it a violation of international norms.
The spokesperson said false reports were spread by an Israeli newspaper about the Bondi Beach incident. RAW is operating in an organised manner across regions. Australian authorities will investigate any possible RAW link to the attack.
Official channels exist for contacts with Afghanistan, the spokesperson said. Talks were possible had Afghan representatives attended the Tehran meeting. Pakistan has concerns over private investment in India’s nuclear sector, citing its past record and incidents of nuclear material theft.
The spokesperson said Pakistan and Saudi Arabia continue defence cooperation. The mutual defence agreement is part of this framework. Blocking the SAARC process is condemnable, and Pakistan supports regional connectivity and cooperation.
