major incentives announced for tax payers

The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has urged taxpayers to file their income tax returns for Tax Year 2026 by September 30, highlighting several benefits available to filers.

In a social media post, the FBR said timely filing can help taxpayers benefit from lower tax rates and other facilities.

According to the FBR, there is no tax on withdrawing cash from a bank account.

The tax authority said filers purchasing a vehicle pay around one-third of the tax applicable to non-filers.

Similarly, taxpayers buying or selling property can pay one-third of the tax charged to non-filers, according to the FBR.

The FBR also said filers pay half the tax charged to non-filers on National Savings schemes and bank profits.

Another benefit highlighted by the tax authority is the legal right to claim an adjustment or refund for excess tax paid or deducted.

The FBR advised citizens to file their returns through its official website or the Tax Asaan mobile application.

It also urged taxpayers needing assistance to contact the FBR helpline or visit the nearest tax office.

The tax authority warned taxpayers against delaying their returns, saying there is little benefit in hiding income because the FBR has access to taxpayers’ financial information.

The deadline for filing income tax returns for Tax Year 2026 is September 30.
