Web Desk: Several parts of Pakistan are expected to receive more rain and hailstorms from Monday through Sept. 17, with the national weather service forecasting thunderstorms and showers across major regions of the country.
The Pakistan Meteorological Department (PMD) said the latest spell could affect Islamabad, Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sindh, Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.
Islamabad is likely to experience additional rainfall accompanied by thunderstorms, while nearby Rawalpindi, Murree and the Galiyat region are also expected to receive showers.
From Tuesday until Sept. 17, rain is forecast across several districts of Punjab, including Lahore, Sialkot, Sheikhupura, Narowal and Gujrat.
Gujranwala, Wazirabad, Kasur, Okara and Nankana Sahib could also see intermittent rainfall during the period.
The weather system is also expected to bring showers to several parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Peshawar, Swat, Chitral, Dir, Malakand and Mardan are among the areas where rainfall has been forecast.
Meanwhile, intermittent showers are likely in parts of Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Kashmir.
The PMD has warned that continued rainfall could create hazardous conditions in mountainous areas.
The weather system is expected to extend to parts of Sindh, with Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur and Larkana among the cities that could receive rain.
In Balochistan, showers are forecast in Zhob, Barkhan and Musa Khel districts.
Weather conditions are expected to vary across the affected areas, with thunderstorms and hail possible in some locations.
The PMD has warned of possible landslides in mountainous parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Gilgit-Baltistan, Murree, Galiyat and Kashmir.
Authorities have advised residents in vulnerable areas to remain cautious as additional rainfall could destabilise slopes and increase the risk of landslides.
People travelling through mountainous regions have also been urged to remain alert during periods of heavy rain and thunderstorms.
