Washington: US President Donald Trump has stated that the downing of an American aircraft will not affect negotiations with Iran.
In an interview with an American TV channel, President Trump avoided sharing details about the rescue operation and said that Iran’s actions would not impact ongoing talks.
US officials have not yet confirmed the reports or Iranian claims that two American aircraft were targeted.
On the other side, Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has released details regarding the downing of American aircraft, drones, and missiles, stating that it was a “black day” for the US and Israeli air forces.
According to the IRGC, its air defense forces shot down two advanced fighter jets on Friday.
A spokesperson said that the Aerospace Defense Force brought down a modern fighter aircraft in central Iran, and the pilot failed to eject safely. Another US A-10 warplane was reportedly shot down near the Strait of Hormuz.
Furthermore, an Iranian semi-official news agency claimed that the United States had proposed a 48-hour ceasefire on April 2 through a friendly country.
The report stated that this proposal came at a time when US forces in the region were facing increasing tensions and challenges. Iran did not provide a written response; instead, it responded by continuing heavy attacks on the ground.
