London: At Lord’s cricket ground in London, The Pakistan Super League (PSL) roadshow brought cricket fans together. However, a light-hearted remark from legendary fast bowler Wasim Akram stole the spotlight.

PCB Chairman Mohsin Naqvi, Wasim Akram and former captain Ramiz Raja chaired the event.

While discussing how T20 leagues operate around the world, Wasim Akram praised the PSL for being fast, short and easy to follow.

About the Indian Premier League (IPL) he made a humorous comment, he said “The best thing about PSL is that it lasts for 34 days or a bit more next year. It’s not three months long like other league. Bachay bade ho jatay hain, who league khatam hi nhi hoti.”

This remark quickly became the most talked about event of the night.

Wasim Akram was part of the IPL in the early years and has also worked as a commentator in the league. Howver, he pointed out that now IPL runs needlessly for almost 3 months, with 2025 season running from March 22 to June 3.

IPL is one of the longest cricket tournaments of the world. It has 74 matches from league rounds to the knockouts and stretches over two months

PSL is much shorter in contrast. It has only six teams, the tournament is usually wrapped in a month. The next edition is scheduled to being in May 2026.
