Sri Lanka suffer setback ahead of 3rd ODI against Pakistan

RAWALPINDI: Sri Lanka faced a major setback ahead of the third match against Pakistan, as captain Charith Asalanka has fallen ill with fever while Wanindu Hasaranga is struggling with a hamstring injury.

According to reports, several other Sri Lankan players are also dealing with a viral infection. Sources say Kusal Mendis may lead the side in place of Asalanka if needed.

The third and final ODI between Pakistan and Sri Lanka will be played today at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has confirmed that Shaheen Shah Afridi will play today’s match.

Pakistan already hold a decisive 2-0 lead in the series, having won the first ODI by 6 runs and the second by 8 wickets to seal the series.

Police have put in place foolproof security arrangements for both the ODI and the upcoming tri-nation T20 series.

Ahead of the tri-nation series, which begins on 18 November, the T20 squads of Pakistan and Sri Lanka held practice sessions at Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium.
