LAHORE: All-rounder Shadab Khan has been performing very well in the latest season of the Big Bash League. He is playing a crucial role for his team, the Sydney Thunder, and helped them achieve their first win of the tournament. Sources suggest he may be making a comeback to the national team.
Due to this performance, sources suggest that the selection committee is considering including Shadab Khan in the national squad. Shadab Khan was not able to play the Asia Cup, the South Africa series and the Sri Lanka series due to his injury.
All-rounder Shadab Khan may make a comeback in the upcoming T20 series with Sri Lanka. The presence of Shadab Khan is expected to give Pakistan’s middle order a boost.
Fast bowler Haris Rauf is also being considered. He was left out of the series with South Africa and the Tri-Nation series.
Nothing is quite confirmed yet; however, sources suggest some new faces are also front-runners to be included for this series. The two names that keep repeating are young opener Maaz Sadaqat and fast bowler Ahmed Daniyal.
Sources suggest that Babar Azam and Shaheen Afridi will be permitted to keep playing in the BBL.
This squad announcement will come ahead of the January 7 deadline for submitting provisional rosters for the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026. The event will be co-hosted by India and Sri Lanka. After announcing provisional rosters, teams can still make changes within a week of the tournament, provided that ICC grants approval.
The World Cup will be scheduled from February 7 to March 8. Pakistan will be in Group A, alongside the United States, the Netherlands, Namibia and India.
