Islamabad: Security sources said that India’s external intelligence agency, the Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), is behind what they described as a renewed campaign of online propaganda and destabilisation efforts in Pakistan’s southwestern province of Balochistan.
These activities are part of what officials said was a broader pattern of information warfare aimed at undermining Pakistan’s internal stability.
Allegations of coordinated propaganda
According to the security sources, the activities are linked to a sustained propaganda drive against Pakistan, with a particular focus on Balochistan. The sources said individuals they described as connected to Indian government and intelligence circles were using digital platforms to amplify unrest and fuel anti-state narratives.
In this context, in recent days the sources pointed to an account on the social media platform X, operating under the name “Page 3 News Thai,” which they claim was involved in spreading what they called fabricated claims, historical distortions and content aligned with Indian strategic interests related to Balochistan.
Account allegedly operated from India
The security sources said that, according to their findings, technical data associated with the account showed it was controlled from India, using a virtual private network routed through Thailand. Furthermore, they said the account repeatedly used a false identity, posing as exiled Baloch figure Mir Yar Baloch, to disseminate messages critical of Pakistan.
According to the sources, the use of a fabricated profile was part of what they described as a systematic attempt to exploit Baloch identity for promoting militancy-related narratives and anti-Pakistan messaging.
Targeting international audiences
Meanwhile, the sources said the same account recently published a lengthy message aimed at international audiences. They characterised the post as propaganda prepared by RAW and claimed it was designed to mislead global public opinion on the situation in Balochistan.
They added that the content drew on what they described as “anti-Balochistan material” crafted to reinforce allegations against Pakistan while obscuring violence carried out by militant groups in the province.
Broader claims and next steps
The security sources further alleged that evidence of Indian involvement in unrest and militant activity in Balochistan was increasingly coming to light internationally, exposing what they called New Delhi’s “covert designs” against Pakistan.
Relevant Pakistani institutions are reviewing all aspects of the matter, the sources said, and plan to present available evidence at “appropriate forums.”
