Pakistan’s young fast bowler Razaullah made his Test debut against England at Edgbaston and delivered an impressive performance.
The 21-year-old right-arm fast bowler from Mardan claimed his first Test wicket with just the fourth ball of his career by dismissing Joe Root, the second-highest run-scorer in Test history, leg before wicket.
Razaullah’s journey to the national team is also no less than a scene from a film.
According to reports, when he was selected for the England tour, he did not even have a passport.
The selectors tried to contact him, but the young cricketer’s phone was switched off, after which a coach was reportedly sent to his village.
His passport and visa were arranged on an emergency basis, and Razaullah reached England, where instead of merely being made part of the squad, he was immediately included in the playing XI.
He also impressed with his pace, bowling at speeds of up to 92 miles per hour in the opening overs. By the end of the day, he had taken two wickets.
Razaullah made his first-class debut for Peshawar in the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy last November, while before that, he had caught the attention of Peshawar Region coach Abdul Rehman while playing for the Mardan district team.
Razaullah’s impressive bowling also drew praise from former cricketers around the world, including Indian critics.
