Positive results of Chief Minister Punjab’s agricultural reforms and farmer-friendly policies are beginning to emerge, under which Punjab has entered a new era of modern agricultural mechanization.

According to private a TV channel, the provision of green tractors, high-tech combine harvesters and super seeders is promoting modern farming in the province, while several projects are being implemented to provide farmers easy access to modern agricultural machinery.

Under Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif’s Green Tractor Scheme, a subsidy of Rs 1 million per tractor is being given on 9,500 high-power tractors, while 10,000 tractors of 50 to 65 horsepower are being provided to farmers with a subsidy of Rs 500,000.

In the new financial year, a subsidy of Rs 1.5 million will be given on high-horsepower tractors, while Rs 750,000 subsidy will be provided on 50 to 65 horsepower tractors, which will significantly benefit small and medium farmers financially.

For the first time in Punjab, an interest-free loan scheme of up to Rs 30 million has also been introduced for the purchase of 12 types of modern agricultural machinery. Under this scheme, farmers are being provided financial assistance on easy terms to purchase modern technology-equipped agricultural equipment.

Due to government measures, about 200 high-tech combine harvesters have been provided to farmers through interest-free loans. For wheat harvesting, 50 modern combine harvesters were used for the first time, which made timely and efficient harvesting possible.

To reduce environmental pollution and discourage the burning of crop residue, the Punjab government distributed 5,000 super seeders among rice farmers. For the first time, rice cultivation was completed on 1.4 million acres using super seeder technology, which is showing positive environmental and agricultural results.

The Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has also approved the provision of an additional 5,000 super seeders in the second phase of the scheme so that more farmers can benefit from this modern technology.

She said that modernizing the agricultural sector and guiding farmers towards innovation is her commitment. Agricultural mechanization will not only reduce production costs but also significantly increase per-acre yield.

The Chief Minister further said that the use of super seeders is clearly reducing environmental pollution and modern agricultural machinery has become a necessity of the time. The Punjab government is also providing facilities for small farmers to rent modern agricultural machinery so that farmers with limited resources can also benefit from modern agricultural technology.
