PM Shehbaz Sharif reaffirms Pakistan’s role in facilitating Iran–US dialogue

An important high-level consultative meeting was held under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to review the situation that emerged after Iran’s refusal to participate in the talks.


According to details, the meeting discussed the developments regarding the second round of Iran–US negotiations, which is expected to be held in Islamabad tomorrow. The meeting reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to ensuring the successful holding of these talks.


The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi, and other senior officials.


Sources said that the situation arising after Iran’s refusal to participate in the talks was reviewed in detail. The Interior Minister briefed the Prime Minister about his meetings with the US and Iranian ambassadors.


It was agreed that Pakistan would continue its contacts to ensure Iran’s participation in the negotiations. Efforts to facilitate the dialogue between Iran and the United States will continue.


It is worth noting that the second round of US–Iran talks is likely to be held in Islamabad tomorrow. Despite the firm positions of both sides, Pakistan’s diplomatic efforts are ongoing. The Pakistani leadership is in constant contact with the concerned parties on every new development.

Hope still exists, but no final timeline for a settlement has been given.


The Interior Minister also held separate meetings with the US and Iranian ambassadors, in which he informed them about security arrangements for the second round of talks. Both ambassadors appreciated Pakistan’s sincere role in promoting peace.
