Web desk: During the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, Prime Minister of Pakistan Shehbaz Sharif met with Bill Gates, Chairman of the Gates Foundation, where the two sides agreed to enhance cooperation in the areas of health and digital transformation.
The Prime Minister expressed gratitude for the Gates Foundation’s generous support during the recent 2025 floods, as well as its vital assistance following the 2022 floods.
He also praised the foundation’s valuable partnership in polio eradication, immunisation programmes, nutrition improvement, and financial inclusion in Pakistan.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif emphasised that eliminating polio remains a top priority for his government, noting that collaboration with the Gates Foundation is crucial in achieving this goal.
He also emphasised the efforts of the government to revive the economy, the shift to a digital and cashless environment, and general economic reforms, noting that the foundation had contributed to these achievements.
Both leaders reiterated the desire to enhance collaboration in health, nutrition, digital transformation, and the socio-economic development of Pakistan in general.
