GILGIT-BALTISTAN: Pakistan and China have conducted their first-ever joint border security exercise at Mintika Pass, located around 4,600 metres above sea level, bringing the Khunjerab Security Police (KSP) and Chinese military personnel together for drills in a challenging high-altitude border environment.
KSP personnel travelled for two consecutive days through difficult mountainous terrain to reach the Mintika border point, where they took part in the joint exercises.
The exercise focused on strengthening coordination, professional skills and operational capabilities required to manage security challenges in high-altitude and rugged border regions.
Chinese military personnel also hosted a reception for the KSP contingent and displayed various weapons and defence equipment during the visit.
The Chinese side presented gifts to the Pakistani police personnel as part of efforts to promote goodwill and friendly ties between the security institutions of the two countries.
The joint activity highlighted growing professional interaction and cooperation between Pakistani and Chinese security personnel along the mountainous border.
It also provided an opportunity for both sides to improve coordination and practical capabilities while operating in some of the region’s most challenging terrain.
The exercise marked another instance of security cooperation between Pakistan and China in support of border management and bilateral ties.
